Our cookbook is now available for sale and we couldn't be more excited about it! With Thanksgiving fast approaching, there were several recipes from the cookbook we were itching to try. One of those is a Vegan Holiday Gravy submitted by Darcey of Franklin! It sounded absolutely delicious so we had to try it out for ourselves. And guess what? It was! Here's how you can make it yourself:
Ingredients
Oil to coat the pan
2 cloves of garlic, diced
2 Tbsp. cornstarch
3 Tbsp. soy sauce
1 1/2 cups water
2 Tbsp. tahini
Begin by whisking the cornstarch and soy sauce together in a small bowl until dissolved.
Heat your oil in a pan and saute garlic. Add water and the cornstarch/soy sauce mixture to the pan and whisk until it's thick and just boiling. Remove from heat.
Whisk tahini into mixture and cover until you're ready to use!
The process and the ingredients are simple, but we tried this gravy poured over mashed potatoes and it was absolutely delicious! Next time we make it, it will be for flavoring in a veggie pot pie. Yum!
This recipe and its counterparts - Vegan Holiday Roast and Vegan Holiday Stuffing - are all featured in our brand new Sunflower Community Cookbook! It's only $8 and you'll get 80 healthy recipes submitted by community members and local businesses. The best part about our new cookbook, though, is that 100% of the proceeds will be donated directly to local food pantries to help feed the hungry this holiday season. Come on in to grab a cookbook for yourself or as a gift! Hope to see you soon :)
Health & happiness,
