Father's Day is just a few days away and we can't think of a better way to celebrate Dad than with a medley of his favorite foods. Nachos? Check! Chili? Check! Burgers? Check! For this occasion, we have pulled together a list of Father's Day food ideas that will go perfectly with a local microbrew and a warm lake breeze.
1. Black Bean & Potato Nachos
Nachos are a must. While the main course is being prepared, having something to munch on will keep the whole family happy. This recipe for black bean & potato nachos looks especially tasty because the ingredients are fresher and healthier than many other nacho recipes.
2. Marinated Broccoli Salad with Grapes
After the nachos have disappeared, this marinated broccoli salad will offer a fresh crunch, and (thanks to some unlikely ingredients!) even those who aren't fans of veggies will be interested in giving it a try.
3. Bulgur Vegetable Chili
We couldn't make a Father's Day Feast post without including chili, and this bulgur vegetable chili really fits the bill. Packed with veggies, a hearty grain, and lots of spice, we think this will knock Dad's socks off when you serve it on Sunday. Add a little local farm-raised beef, chicken, or pork if your father is a meat-lovin' man!
4. BBQ Tempeh Sandwiches
The main course, obviously, must be slathered in barbeque sauce. Click here for a BBQ tempeh sandwich that allows for the classic BBQ flavor, without compromising Dad's health.
5. Vanilla Peanut Butter Chunk & Chocolate Crunch Ice Cream
This dessert. looks. amazing. The best part is that it doesn't even look that hard! Click here for the recipe and blow your family away with your culinary wizardry! Did we just find a new favorite dessert?
It's not too late to come into Sunflower for a Father's Day card (like the one pictured above!) or a gift; this year my Dad requested some of our specialty nuts. We hope to see you soon whether or not you are stopping in for Father's Day feast ingredients!
Health & happiness,
P.s. What would your Dad add to the list? We would love to hear about your Father's Day ideas!
